A number of years ago I heard someone say that the best place that you can go with a child is their imagination…
When you visit Eastport (and I really hope that you do), be sure not to miss the Tides Institute. I punches WAY above its weight in this small little east port town. When we were there over the weekend, the work of artist and jeweller Heather Perry was on display in the main gallery at the institute; collection of oversized necklaces made of cement. Upstairs was Janice Wright Cheney’s piece Spectre which she originally created the summer before last at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta. Finally in residence @ StudioWorks we met the artist Josef Berry from Virginia who was printing a wonderful series of “Wanted” & “Kidnapped” posters which he carved out of woodblocks, and was freely sharing them with visitors to the festival. Such a rich place to visit!
