I volunteered with Art Stories Connaught Street School over the course of five Fridays this winter. The students were from grades 1&2, and over the course of our time together they created many inspired works of art. First their works were based on the design concept of a repeatable unit (a single design) and then we moved on to thinking about patterns.
It was an absolute honour to work with these kids and I learned from them each time I was at their wonderful school. In the end, we created two fabric table runners from the individual designs they had created and printed onto white cotton squares.
The work of each class involved from the school (and there were MANY), will be on exhibition at Government House in Fredericton New Brunswick for one week beginning this Friday March 28.
Please to get down to see this show if you can. There are so many individual “art stories” to see, it’s amazing!
Hi web world! I want to clarify that in this post, when in brackets I say we have an agenda to get the arts back in public schools, I mean as parents. I am not talking about our committee. *all opinions expressed in this blog are my own!
